Commuting Statistics
Every so often I’ll post the stats from my commute to work on this page. The idea being that over time, you’ll see the average speed increase and the time taken decrease as I (hopefully) get fitter. What it is more likely to highlight however is when I’ve been to the pub the night before and so the averages drop sharply.
Stats won’t be published for every commute (quite frankly I can’t be bothered) but I’ll put some up every so often.
14/4/09
There:
- Max speed: 21.9 mph
- Distance: 2.85 miles
- Average speed: 14.4 mph
- Time: 11 minutes, 56 seconds
Back:
- Max speed: 22.2 mph
- Distance: 2.84 miles
- Average speed: 14.0 mph
- Time: 12 minutes, 519 seconds
Notes: Not really sure why today’s commute was so quick? Maybe it’s down to the kids being away for Easter but maybe, just maybe I’m getting fitter?
17/02/09
There:
- Max speed: 21.8 mph
- Distance: 2.84 miles
- Average speed: 14.1 mph
- Time: 12 minutes, 05 seconds
Back:
- Max speed: 20 mph
- Distance: 2.88 miles
- Average speed: 12.4 mph
- Time: 13 minutes, 59 seconds
Notes: I’d like to think it was my fitness that gave me the boost on the way to work but I’ve a sneaking suspicion it has a lot more to do with the lack of traffic (half term for schools) than increase in personal fitness. Still, the way home was respectable considering I did it well within my stride and didn’t push at any point.
14/01/09
There:
- Max speed: 21.2 mph
- Distance: 2.80 miles
- Average speed: 13.0 mph
- Time: 12 minutes, 55 seconds
Back:
- Max speed: 20.2 mph
- Distance: 2.87 miles
- Average speed: 12.8 mph
- Time: 13 minutes, 28 seconds
Notes: Tried a different tack today. No wine the night before and a breakfast bar before setting off – seemed to make no difference. For the way back I’d had Lasagna for lunch which obviously gave the required power boost!
12/01/09
There:
- Max speed: 21.3 mph
- Distance: 2.86 miles
- Average speed: 13.7 mph
- Time: 12 minutes, 31 seconds
Back:
- Max speed: 20.3 mph
- Distance: 2.84 miles
- Average speed: 11.7 mph
- Time: 14 minutes, 32 seconds
Notes: Powered on the way there by a good bottle of red the night before and on the way back by the athletes super diet of Porridge, KFC and Haribo I think this represents a good bench mark to aim to beat!
